Ian Rowland

Ian was a long time coach of Madison Judo and a member of its board from 2013-2019. He primarily led and coached our junior program during that time. He continues to assist the club as an Emeritus Instructor.

Ian was introduced to judo by Mick Leigh (now 8th dan), as a high school student. As a university student, he founded a judo club within the first semester. As captain, Ian oversaw the club and team development throughout his undergraduate, postgraduate and postdoctoral studies during which it became the most successful sport within the University.

PARKING INFORMATION

Parking is available in the front of the building but is limited. After 5pm and on weekends, the back parking lot of the building is open to the public. 2 MG&E lots within about a block that are also free after 6pm and on weekends. We recommend using these lots during the times they are available.

You will be able to enter from the back lot or the front lot, but for the security of those with whom we share the front hallway, its outer door will require a security code. We'll be propping that door open before and for the first several minutes of any given class. If you are visiting for the first time and don’t have that code, you’ll want to enter through the back lot. The back and MG&E parking areas are shaded red on this map. The rear entrance to Madison Judo will be marked with Foundations Jiujitsu and Madison Judo/USA Judo signage.
